BOOKWORM REVIEW: Planes, Trains, and All the Feels by Livy Hart

RATING: ⭐⭐⭐⭐.5

Cassidy's trip home for her sister's wedding is not going well, to say the least. A good-looking jerk cuts in to steal her parking spot, making her miss the airport shuttle. Now the same jerk named Luke is on her flight..which has to make an emergency landing. Stuck in the middle of nowhere, she has no choice but to go on a road trip to California with Luke. No problem - she can tolerate him for one day, right?

Turns out their trip takes much longer with twists and turns -- literally and figuratively -- that keep these two in close proximity.

I love the banter. Witty exchanges are my literary Achilles' heel, and this read delivered in spades. The adversarial -- yet somehow flirty -- exchanges ignite the tension between our two main characters. Opposites they may be, I love that they complement each other so well.

And the spice! It was unexpected but oh so welcomed. I know instalust/love is not everyone's jam, but when it is done well, give it to me! I am also weak for broody dirty talkers, and Luke nails it to a T. πŸ₯

This standalone read was so much fun. I love a great road trip romance, and this low-angst story was so well-paced that I devoured it in one sitting.

** I am voluntarily reviewing an advance copy of this book. Thank you to Livy Hart, Entangled Publishing, and NetGalley for providing an ARC. **

ABOUT THE BOOK

As the black sheep of the family, choreographer Cassidy Bliss vowed she’d do anything to get home in time to help with her sister’s wedding and avoid family disappointment… again . She just never expected “anything” would involve sharing the last rental car with the jerk who cut her off in line at the airport this morning. But horrible times apparently call for here-goes-nothing measures.

Driving across the country with Luke “life can be solved with a spreadsheet” Carlisle must be a penance for some crime she committed. Because the second he opens his mouth, it’s all she can do to not maim him with her carry-on. But somewhere between his surprisingly thoughtful snack sharing and his uncanny ability to see straight to the core of her, her feelings go unchecked.

Suddenly, their crackling chemistry is just one more thing they have to navigate―and it couldn’t come at a worse time. But after a lifetime of letting the expectations and needs of others drive her life, Cassidy must decide if she’s ready to take the wheel once and for all.

MEET LIVY HART

When she’s not generating puns and/or asking fictional characters “what do you want” in a Ryan Gosling-esque tone, Livy is a dyslexia specialist in Dallas, Texas and an avid group chatter.
Her love of reading began when she discovered the portability of books. YA was her gateway, but romance sealed the deal. Wild with the power of a library card, she tore through the romance genre offerings and went back for seconds and thirds. Megan McCafferty and Nora Roberts taught her what books could be.

After discovering some journals come with locks, Livy began writing as a kid and hasn’t stopped since. She loves to write heroes and heroines who fight tooth-and-nail to find their places in the world, take big risks in the name of love, and have a lot of steamy fun along the way.

No really... a lot of steamy fun. Legend has it, some have even gotten caught.
