BOOKWORM REVIEW: Wait for Always by K.A. Linde

I was not prepared for the angst.

Amelia Ballentine has harbored a secret crush on her brother's best friend Ash Talmadge for a long time. Unfortunately, their story is filled with wrong timing and heartache. 

This book takes readers on an angsty ride as Amelia and Ash cycle through different partners who never seemed right for each of them. The main characters and their supporting cast are definitely charismatic, but the jumps all over their timeline were distracting and threw me off from being completely immersed in their story. Just when I get so mesmerized and invested in their journey, it gets abruptly interrupted by a time jump that requires some mental gymnastics. I get the point of the flashbacks, but my brain latches on to the date and tries to fit it in chronological order. I would have loved a more binary approach, but that's just how my brain works.

Nonetheless, the story was compelling. The angst and longing will frustrate you in a good way, but I find that the best love stories have the bumpiest roads to HEA. Along the way, Linde teases readers with sizzling moments between Amelia and Ash to give us hope.

This is the fourth book in Linde's Coastal Chronicles series, but I am new to this book universe and never felt lost.
