BOOKWORM REVIEW: You Had Your Chance, Lee Burrows by Piper Rayne

Since The Hockey Hotties series ended, I have been seriously craving some Piper Rayne sports romance, and they delivered with the kick-off of their new football romance series.

Working together for the San Francisco Kingsmen isn't the first time quarterback Lee Burrows and sports therapist Shayna Kudrow have been in close proximity to each other. These two have had serious baggage that went back to college when Lee broke Shayna's heart.

Since Shayna really wants to get a foot in the door to the sports medicine world and the Kingsmen organization holds that key, she figures that she can use her anger and resentment to keep the charming Burrows at bay..and a team anti-fraternization policy can also provide extra incentive to keep her distance. BUT..if you have read Offside with #55, you know that there is only so much resistance a woman can put up against the infamous Burrows charisma.

This was a fun, fun, fun (and steamy) read. We knew from the moment that they've locked eyes in the beginning that Shayna and Lee would not be able to resist the strong, delicious magnetism between them. (Shayna did try, though -- A for effort!) I love the push and pull between them, and if we thought that Kane had the market covered on irresistible charm, we are immediately corrected by the fact that it is apparently genetic and equally distributed among Burrows siblings.

This is the first of Piper and Rayne's new Kingsmen Football series, so it does carry the burden of introducing the world and its characters to us. But they did a fabulous job of giving us previews into the other characters without taking too much from Lee and Shayna. We also get a nice cameo from Kane and Jana, which I thoroughly enjoyed. If you are new to this book universe, welcome! Don't be scared; this can be read as a standalone.

With NFL playoffs on the horizon, I know football excitement is in the air, so if you are looking for fun, sexy reads to fuel that fire, this is definitely a great pick.
