BLOG TOUR + REVIEW: The Front Runner by Elsie Silver

If I could give this a million stars, I would.
Stefan Dalca has been a villain in the previous Gold Rush Ranch series, but he is no stranger to being the bad guy..or so he thinks. He is just trying to keep his horse ranch thriving by producing potential race winners, small town gossip and other distractions be damned. One person sees through his stony exterior, and she also happens to be the only woman who has piqued his interest: Dr. Mira Thorne.
And Mira has no room in her life for distractions, even if they are delicious as Stefan Dalca. As one of the few town veterinarians, she is focused on her job and would rather spend more time with horses than people.
When Mira and the Gold Rush Ranch have to ask Stefan for a huge favor, he agrees in exchange for Mira having to oversee the favor in his ranch and three dates. Will those three dates be enough for Stefan to convince Mira that he is not as bad as people think he is?
What I love about Elsie Silver's characters is that she takes incredibly flawed people, gives them resilience and sass, and draws out the right amount of vulnerability that make them so relatable and make us readers fall in love with them. Stefan and Mira are no different; I would even say that they raised the bar set by the previous couples in the Gold Rush Ranch.
There is more of a slow burn here, but the tension-building grows from a good simmer to boiling hot. I love the grand gestures and small moments along the way, making the ultimate payoff so worth the wait. While the Harding brothers are incredible dirty talkers, Stefan is more of an action man, and I love that about him.
This book can stand on its own; Elsie Silver does a great job in integrating context to know from previous books. However, I highly recommend reading the entire series. Elsie has created a remarkable world with these two ranches, and each book makes it harder to leave.
