BOOKWORM REVIEW: Park Avenue Pretender by Crystal Perkins

I came for the mistaken-identity enemies-to-lovers read from the Cocky Heroes Club collection and ended up pleasantly surprised with the corporate politics and family drama.
Somer covets the CEO position in her family's business. As the corporate fixer, she pretty much has that spot in the bag when her father retires, especially when her cousins are idiot sandwiches both in life and in business. One thing stands in her way, and it is a possible corporate takeover from James Gatwick, a ruthless billionaire businessman who eats businesses for breakfast and spits them out before lunchtime.
Somer has been tasked with moving in next door to James and figure out how she can stop the takeover.
Unfortunately, James rarely lives in the Park Avenue penthouse next door, even though his daughter lives there with her manny Hank. Somer mistakes Hank for James, but while she should hate his guts, she finds herself drawn to the stupid-hot manny.
You know what else is stupid-hot? This book. The chemistry, the spice. The fact that both MMC and MFC are dirty talkers.
I love that Somer is an incredible bad*ss and takes charge of her own sexuality. She is not afraid to instigate encounters with Hank and to stand up for herself and her friends.
I don't know what it is with me and cinnamon rolls lately, but I have been loving them and Hank is no exception. He adores Leia (his charge) and it shows through how he navigates around Somer, James, and everyone else.
This is my first Crystal Perkins read, and while this book can be a standalone, there were parts where I felt overwhelmed by the different mentions of characters from other books. It was hard to understand the dynamics with Somer's friends and their respective beau-related drama, and I felt like it took me a bit away from the main story.
Other than that, this was still a great spicy read.
