What do you do when you were so caught up in someone only to find you were meant to be for someone else?
In My Next Play by Carrie Ann Ryan, Nessa has been so enamored with Pacey only to run into heartache when Pacey falls in love with someone else. Nursing a dented heart, she gives dating another shot only to run into an arrogant toad instead of the Prince Charming she always wanted. It turns out Prince Charming was a little late to the party and ended up rescuing her from the handsy, aggressive toad.
It also turns out that Prince Charming was Miles, one of the guys that rooms with Pacey and is Nessa's little circle of friends.
As Miles and Nessa spend more time together, Nessa realized that what she felt for Pacey was just a schoolgirl crush and that Miles could be the real deal. But with all of the obstacles that life throws at them, could their college fling become a happily ever after?
This was my first book by Carrie Ann Ryan and of this series, so there were times that I felt a little lost in keeping track of who's who in Nessa and Miles' group of friends.
I really like Miles; he is the quintessential nice guy: wholesome, smart, and kind. He is the kind of guy you meet in college, marry, have kids with, and live happily for the rest of your life. I found the drama between him and his parents too frustrating. I get why his parents are overbearing, but it was hard to read them treating him like a teenager when he is in his early 20s.
I enjoyed the progression of their relationship, and how their friends rally around them in their time of need. I am considering going back to read the earlier books and re-reading this one to get a better context of the different connections between these friends and roommates.
