BOOKWORM REVIEW: Some Kind of Blunderful by Livy Hart

This was a cute strangers to enemies to lovers romance!

Mia Madden and Alex Conroy's first date did not go as planned. The two connected over a dating app and are currently not exactly on good terms. The animosity only grows when Mia discovers that Alex is her dad's new boss and the man who stole her dad's rightful place in the company.

You would think the animosity would be enough to drive them apart, but fate had separate plans. Life keeps throwing them together, whether it is through Alex's work or their best friends who are dating each other. The forced proximity seems to be chipping away at the ice around their hearts they've built since their first date, but Alex is still public enemy #1 in the Madden household.

I LOVED THIS READ. The fun banter, the sizzling chemistry, the hit-the-spot spice. Mia and Alex can live in my head rent-free with their story. The development of their relationship just felt so organic and fun and charming that they had me cheering for them from the get-go.

There were precise layers to their character development, also. I appreciated that there was no fuss or frills. Both main characters were relatable, and despite their different personalities, their relationship just made sense.

This standalone read was a fantastic journey of finding love at the most unexpected place, and I was here for it.

ABOUT THE BOOK

If you ask Mia Madden, the road to dating hell is paved with suspiciously hot online profiles. Take tonight’s date, for example. Alex Conroy’s whole “boardroom in the streets, lumberjack in the sheets” thing totally works for her, but his profile did not convey that he represents everything she loathes about corporate hustle culture. He’s not even worth her bottle of purse wine.

Imagine her horror when it turns out that Alex is also the hot-shot new boss her dad can’t stop complaining about—the Forbes 30-under-30 company fixer of his nightmares. Worse, their respective best friends are dating. Mia and Alex are constantly thrown together, whether it’s for corporate volunteer hours at the animal rescue, squaring off at the company picnic, or literally trapped in an escape room. It’s one nightmare after another... no matter how sexy the company is.

Mia’s life is now a romantic-comedy of errors, complete with her kinda, sorta, accidentally sleeping with the enemy. And she’s not sure which is worse: that Alex could ruin her dad’s career, or that she might actually like him.

MEET LIVY HART

When she’s not generating puns and/or asking fictional characters “what do you want” in a Ryan Gosling-esque tone, Livy is a dyslexia specialist in Dallas, Texas and an avid group chatter.
Her love of reading began when she discovered the portability of books. YA was her gateway, but romance sealed the deal. Wild with the power of a library card, she tore through the romance genre offerings and went back for seconds and thirds. Megan McCafferty and Nora Roberts taught her what books could be.

After discovering some journals come with locks, Livy began writing as a kid and hasn’t stopped since. She loves to write heroes and heroines who fight tooth-and-nail to find their places in the world, take big risks in the name of love, and have a lot of steamy fun along the way.

No really... a lot of steamy fun. Legend has it, some have even gotten caught.
