BOOKWORM REVIEW: My Favorite Kidnapper by Melanie Moreland
What is it about guys who would be serious red flags in real life but are weirdly endearing in fictional situations?
Meet Dante. Not only does he have an unhealthy affinity for cakes, but he has developed an equally obsessive attraction to the young baker Bri. When Bri would rather suffer in the rough life she has been dealt with instead of spending time with him, he does what anyone in his shoes would do, of course: Whisk her away to his vast mansion in Italy to be his own personal baker.
Well, he aims to seduce her, too, but that is just a bonus.
Unfortunately, Bri has not quite signed off on this plan, and she tries to resist all of Dante's efforts. Emphasis on try. The more they spend time together, the more they realize that there is more to their connection than lust and cakes.
This was a very cute read. I enjoyed the banter and chemistry between the two main characters. This book will have you laughing and giggling at their antics. When the spice hits? It complements the sweet really well.
Like I said, Dante might be a walking red flag in real life, but in Romancelandia, we tend to like aggressive men who make questionable choices about how to get close to their soulmates. Who knew kidnapping could be so romantic?
This romantic comedy is a fantastic standalone read. I toggled back and forth between the audiobook and e-book, but I certainly preferred the e-book better.

ABOUT THE BOOK
I touched her confectionary creation, and she told me off.
Slapping my hands and cursing in her own unique fashion.
No one talked to me that way.
I liked it.
I liked her cake even more.
So, I took her to Italy to bake for me.
I should have asked her first, but I had a feeling she’d say no.
I brought her cat, though—that should count for something.
Now, I just need to convince her to stay.
And forget that little word.

I’d prefer lover.
But we’ll wait until she doesn’t want to kill me in my sleep.
