BOOKWORM REVIEW: What The Heart Wants by Nikki Ash

RATING: ⭐⭐⭐
SPICE: πŸ”₯πŸ”₯πŸ”₯

Bree's family has been encouraging her to move on ever since her husband died a few years ago. Still heartbroken from her loss, she just cannot fathom how to do that. Factoring in a successful but small bakery business and two kids, would she even have the time?

Fate seems to have different ideas by introducing her to not one but TWO men. However, Brody and Hayden have more than their attraction to Bree in common: they are also best friends and roommates. To add to the tangled web of white lies they're telling, Hayden also has another secret he is keeping from Bree.

I love poly-romance reads. In fact, I would argue they might even be one of my favorites in romancelandia. However, while I enjoyed this one, I don't think it would be as memorable of a read. The plot was flat for me; even the Act 3 conflict and resolution were anti-climatic.

That said, the characters played their roles to a T. Brody and Hayden were swoony and charming. I love that Bree was resilient and independent. Their chemistry was well enough to get us cheering for a HEA.

The spice hit really well, and I liked the balance that this book had in exploring the different ways for that dynamic with moving the storyline along.

** I am voluntarily reviewing an advance copy of this book. Thank you to Nikki Ash and Enticing Journey for providing an ARC. **

ABOUT THE BOOK

After losing my husband, life was all about taking care of my kids and trying to remain afloat.
Brody and Hayden crashed into my life with the force of an entire ocean.
Five years is a long time to be alone.
Now, I have not one but two sexy and successful men to drown in.
But can I handle the desires, passions, and love they both deserve?

Plus, two men mean double the heartache.
And my heart? It's already mended haphazardly, cracked in multiple places from my loss.
Falling for them could be a disaster.
Choosing between them would be impossible.

But the heart wants what it wants.
And despite my better judgment, I want them both.
Oh, and did I mention that they're best friends—and want to share me?
Things just got a lot more complicated...
