BOOKWORM REVIEW: Over My Brother's Dead Body, Chase Andrews by Piper Rayne

Every Kingsmen seems to be determined to knock off the previous one in taking the spot for my favorite.

Chase Andrews prefers to play football and keep to himself when he is off the field. When his teammate's sister Twyla temporarily moved in next door to condo-sit, her sunny disposition seems to draw him out of his grumpy shell. He knows she is off-limits, but he cannot resist being drawn into her orbit.

This third installment in the Kingsmen Football Stars series is on par with the rest. It is fun and it is engaging and it is over before you want it to be. I love the chemistry and dynamic between Chase and Twyla. He is the protective grump to her sensitive sunshine, and I love that he stands up for her and that she brings out the best in him. It is a slow burn, but we get sizzling teasers along the way that leads to a super-hot pay-off.

I am a big fan of how Piper Rayne portrayed overprotective brother Miles. With best friend or teammate's sister tropes, the brothers can get too intense (some bordering on misogyny), but we get a wonderful backstory and a reasonable sibling.

I was sad, sad, sad to learn this was the last book in the series. (I believe the words "WHAT ABOUT MILES AND BRYCE?!" were screamed.) I am relieved to know that they kick off a whole new series.

This book can be read as a standalone, but I promise you: you will want to get to know the Kingsmen.
