I cannot say enough about how much the Carmichael clan has captured my heart. Jess' story just added to that obsession.
Jess and Pippa have known each other since they were young, and Jess has wanted to be with her for as long. But Pippa has been put off by love and refuses his advances as tempting as they are. A promotion at work has required that Pippa produce an ex-husband (yes, an ex-husband) and it looks like Jess is the best candidate. Now they have to go on a retreat together -- close proximity with the ever-charismatic Jess Carmichael might be the breakthrough to Pippa's heart.
This series is absolute gold, and Jess and Pippa's love story is another W for Adriana Locke. They are incredibly cute with their flirtatious banter and teasing. I don't think I stopped smiling during the entire read. When they finally decided to cross over from friends to lovers, these two will just light your pages on fire.
Of course, I would be remiss to not give the ever-hilarious Carmichael clan the attention they deserve. I love, love, love their antics, and they have come back to this series installment with equal fervor as the previous books. Banks especially brings the annoying brother charm; I don't know if I should pity or envy the poor woman who takes him on in his book.
This book can be read as a standalone, but you would be missing out by not fully investing into the Carmichaels' story.
