BOOKWORM REVIEW: Dr. Perfect by Louise Bay

This was a fun read about two people who are starting over and finding love in their new beginnings. 

Dr. Zach Cove has a secret. It has zero to do with the gastroenterologist's new private practice. In fact, it is a whole new career altogether; he wants to pursue writing a novel. His new part-time assistant seems determined to find out what he is doing behind closed doors all the time. (No, no -- he's just writing.)

Ellie really, really wants this new job to work out. A fallout with her cheating boyfriend has left her without a home, and she needs this gig to get her back on track. Unfortunately, the new practice is incredibly unorganized and slow, and it looks like her boss has no desire to ramp up business.

When an opportunity to prove her worth comes in the form of bringing documents to Dr. Zach's cabin, she jumps on it with little hesitation. Too bad Mother Nature had other plans for these two.

This book was gold. I especially love Zach and Ellie's intertwined arcs to find their own path in the world. Louise Bay gives us an engaging tale about two opposites -- one who seemingly has it together and one whose life just fell apart -- and cleverly weaves romance, humor, familial love, and spice into their love story. As usual, she delivers on character depth; I always enjoy how well-developed and relatable her characters are, no matter their background. 

This is the second installment in the series, but it can certainly be read as a standalone. We meet the main character for the next one. Vincent - I can't wait to read your story, Dr. CEO.
