BOOKWORM REVIEW: The Secret Roommate by Sara Ney

A cake thief should not be adorable, but yet here we are. I'll expand on that in a second.

Football player Duke needs a place to stay. One that would hide from the media until his big announcement. When his agent offers refuge with someone the agent knew, Duke jumps on the opportunity. Unfortunately for him, his temporary roommate is his complete opposite, and they drive each other crazy. Even more unfortunate for Duke: Posey also drives him crazy in a completely different way...one that deals with the beating organ in the middle of his chest.

This book was hilarious. That is mostly because Duke is a big yet adorable doofus with little aptitude for self-control. Bless Posey's heart for dealing with him; I guess that's where her kindergarten teaching skills come in handy. I would have kicked him out of the house if he ate my cake without permission.

Their banter and chemistry are fantastic. I love that Sara Ney took their HEA path through flirtatious friendship before jumping into being lovers. What seem to be two people who are complete opposites is nicely transitioned into two people who just complement each other. 

This book leans toward steamy more than spicy, but it does make up for it with witty banter and funny hijinks. It is a standalone though there are references to characters from the other books in the series. Sara Ney provides enough context, though.
