BOOKWORK REVIEW: The Orc from the Office by Kate Prior

RATING: ⭐⭐⭐⭐.5

This short read is definitely worth the hype:

✅ Sexy chemistry between a no-nonsense human HR specialist and introverted orc techie
     ✅ Accidental mating bond
✅ Flirty banter and spicy longing

Janice did not realize a stuck cabinet drawer could lead to turning her life upside down. When IT specialist Khent helps her out and she accidentally hits his nose, it sets off a mating bond.

And boy, does it set off. Janice and Khent cannot seem to resist the link that bonds them together. But no worries, as Gwen from Monster Relations claims. It will subside in a week or a few. But while the physical aspect of the bond slowly subsides, what is this nagging feeling in the center of Janice's chest?

I love this novella. Kate Prior packs the right amount of spice, chemistry, and monster romance. I love that despite the sudden mating bond, Khent and Janice establish a friendship and eventually a deeper connection over the course of the book.

The story may be from Janice's POV, but Khent steals the show as a gentle giant who puts the needs and wants of his mate first. The broody alpha orc has subtle charming moments that are sure to capture every monster romance fan's heart.

ABOUT THE BOOK

Mate-bonding with a co-worker is against company policy... accidentally or not.

Janice knows better than anyone that entanglements with co-workers are risky business.

But when Janice accidentally breaks a co-workers nose, she finds herself unexpectedly mated to an orc, and under Monster Resources’ scrutiny.

Khent from the IT Department is quiet and nerdy, despite the tusks. His emails are overly wordy. He won’t stop apologizing even though she’s the one who broke his glasses.

Clearly, fate got this one wrong.

All Janice has to do is stay away from Khent until the bond dissipates. Easy enough, right? Except…
…Her company laptop chooses this week to need the orc from the IT Department, repeatedly.
…She accidentally clicks on orc porn at work and has to take remedial phishing training with Khent.
…Their bond will keep pulling them back together until it is completed.
