BOOKWORM REVIEW: Fling by Adriana Locke

I think I am in love with an entire family. Seriously, I love the Carmichaels so hard. Yes, I am fully aware they are fictional, but they are all so adorable and I want Kix and Damaris to adopt me.
Or I will gladly volunteer to marry into the family.
But let's focus on Maddox Carmichael and Ashley Thompson. Ashley just broke off her engagement with her stuffy fiancé. She still has to deal with her non-refundable honeymoon trip to the Bahamas, but unfortunately, her friends and mom cannot go with her. Her friend Sara got the idea of putting out an "ad" about winning a getaway date with her, and somehow Ashley decided to go with it though she wishes in her heart of hearts that her lifelong bestie Maddox would go with her.
Maddox has adored Ashley since they were kids, but despite being from a loving family, something with committed relationships just turned him off. Now that Ashley finally broke it off with a man he couldn't stand, why does he suddenly feel overwhelmingly protective of her, especially when it comes to dating?
I love these two so much. The chemistry and tension between them were sizzling from the first time they interacted in the book all the way to "the end." Their flirting and banter read so easily and had me blushing at multiple moments. I love the character development each lead undergoes in this book. I appreciated how thorough Adriana Locke was about Ashley's transition from her previous relationship to her connection with Maddox without losing pace.
I could talk more about their physical connection, but I don't think words would do it justice. You'll have to experience the spicy moments for yourself. Trust me, it is so worth it.
Like I said in the beginning, I don't think I could love Carmichaels more when I read Flirt, the first book in this series, but somehow they managed to capture my heart even more in this one. Their easy but deep connection with each other is just so fun to watch, and I especially love the dynamic between Maddox and silly Banks.
This book can be read as a standalone, but the Carmichael charm will win you over and leave you wanting more so you might as well start from the very beginning. I cannot wait for the next book, and it looks like poor ol' Jess is up.
