BOOKWORM REVIEW: The Enforcer by Avery Keelan

RATING: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
STEAM: πŸ”₯πŸ”₯.5

College hockey romance with a side of enemies-to-lovers and second chance? Yes please.

Violet and Nash had a whirlwind romance when they were freshmen at Lakeside University. They had an instant mutual connection after meeting at a party and fell too hard too quickly. Unfortunately, when the pressure from Nash's family got into his head, he ends up breaking Violet's heart.

Fast forward three years later and Violet gets an internship with the university hockey team. Her main client: Nash Richards. The no-fraternization policy between staff and players, her hatred for Nash that could rival the fire of a thousand suns -- surely, Violet has nothing to worry about, right?

While I adored Violet and Nash, I think Violet was my favorite. She was supportive, loyal, and even-tempered. She understandably kept her distance from Nash to protect her heart, but she remained true to herself and her connection to Nash. That said, Nash did have a great character development arc, and Violet was the final key to completing the growth.

They have fantastic chemistry as a couple, but I would consider their moments more on the steamy side instead of the spicy side.

This is the first of the series, but it can be read as a standalone. There are no cliffhangers, and Avery Keelan does a great job of subtly introducing the other characters in future books.

ABOUT THE BOOK

Violet
Everyone on campus knows how hulking hockey enforcer Nash Richards demolishes his opponents on the ice, but he demolished my heart freshman year.

Now, he's my brand-new athletic training client—and he wants me back.

I can't afford to lose focus during my senior year, but one moment of weakness has me falling for Nash all over again. Unfortunately, he has secrets, and now they're my secrets, too. Ones that could cost us both everything.

Fraternizing between the trainers and athletes is strictly forbidden, but my heart doesn't care about the rules.

Nash
Violet Walsh is the one that got away... and I'm the one who pushed her to leave.

It was the biggest mistake of my life, and I've regretted it ever since.

Working together is the second chance I never thought I'd get. The magnetism between us is impossible to deny—and one kiss is all it takes to get Violet to admit it too.

She says getting involved now could cost us both our careers, but it's a risk I'm willing to take.

Two years ago, I lost the best thing that ever happened to me. And I'm not going to let it happen twice.

Author's note: The Enforcer is a steamy second chance college sports romance with a HEA and no cliffhanger.
