BOOKWORM REVIEW: Always Mine by Laura Pavlov

I was hopeful that this series would fill the big hole that the wonderful Willow Springs series have left, and this first book certainly did not disappoint.
Niko West and Vivian Thomas have been best friends forever. He has had her back even before she, her dad, and her four sisters lost her mom to cancer. She has been his safe haven especially when his abusive father deservedly went to prison and he had to abandon his football dreams to take care of his sister and mother.
After her ex-fiancΓ© sends her family an invitation to his wedding, Vivi starts to realize that she has not really experienced the physical perks of being in a relationship. When she asks Niko to show her the ropes, he hesitates at first but soon realizes that he does not want anyone else touching his best friend.
Can they keep their emotions at bay in this arrangement, or will they finally succumb to the attraction that has been there since they were kids?
Honey Mountain is going to be a place I will love to visit over and over again in this series. This book did a great job in building the foundation for the series, making me fall in love not just with Vivi and Niko, but with the other characters as well. I adore the Thomas sisters and their different personalities. I cannot wait to devour their stories. I also love the guys working in the firehouse, and I can't wait to learn more about them as well.
But Niko and Vivi are the heart of this book, and their story is full of angst, suspense, and spice. Their connection is deep, and Laura Pavlov did a great job of setting that up from the get-go. They might be the quintessential grumpy and sunshine, but they certainly have their similarities: They are caring, resilient, and so good to their families. And their chemistry is just..so hot.
If you loved the Willow Springs series or are a fan of small-town romance, this book will definitely get you onboard the wonderful ride that this series promises. The countdown commences for Book Two..
