BOOKWORM REVIEW: One Way Back to Me by Carrie Ann Ryan

The world may not be ready for the Wilder Brothers, but here they come!

The series kicks off with Eli's story. He immediately felt a connection with wedding planner Alexis Lane after he catches the garter and she catches the bouquet at a wedding. After a dance and conversation, he was ready to ask her out when her boyfriend got down on one knee to propose.

Fast forward to the present, and Eli and his five brothers are trying to make their Texan villa and winery work. And as first-time resort owners do, they are met with some pretty hefty challenges, including a rival that likes to drop in uninvited and gloat and finding a wedding planner that won't drive the brothers insane.

Then in walks Alexis Lane for an interview with Eli on the recently vacant wedding planner position. Of course, she is a shoo-in; she is highly qualified with a stellar recommendation from one of the Wilders' trusted sources. Eli would be foolish not to hire her, but could he keep his reignited attraction to Alexis at bay while they work together?

I have a weakness for series that explores the journey to HEA for siblings, and this series checks off each box as to why I love them.

The Wilder Brothers are all charming in their own way. There are a lot of them, but Carrie Ann Ryan does a great job slowly introducing different characteristics specific to each brother. For Eli, we get the eldest brother of adult orphans syndrome. He has a kind heart that looks after his siblings and everyone he cares about, even if they don't necessarily ask him to. His eagerness to make sure that everyone is comfortable and happy sometimes leads him to put others before himself. And I find it adorable that his own brothers recognize this and conspire to help him find his happiness.

Alexis is used to being alone. Her entire family moved to Spain to get closer, and when he ex-husband burned every connection she knew, she had to rely on herself to survive. When she unexpectedly inherits not only six overly protective bosses but also a network of new BFFs at the resort, she finds herself trying to readjust to her new normal: She doesn't have to carry the burden of everything.

I love their chemistry. Their connection was done so well that we believe their attraction has been lingering since that fateful wedding. And it gets hot! Eli might be a gentleman at work, but he sure isn't in bed.

This was a fantastic kick-off to the series, and that preview for the next book already has me screaming! The Wilders and co. have been dancing around the history between Evan and Kendall, and to start off Book Two with that? August 15 could not come sooner.
