BOOKWORM REVIEW: Twisted Hate by Ana Huang

If you have read any of the books in the Twisted series, you know you are in for a wild ride. The third installment Twisted Hate is no different.
Josh and Jules have been at each other's throats for seven years. Too long to be around each other if you ask either one of them. Unfortunately, because Jules is one of Ava's ride-or-die and Josh is the only family Ava will acknowledge, avoiding each other completely is out of the question.
It also doesn't help that they live within blocks of each other, and in a city like DC (fictional or real -- I would know because I live in the state next door), running to each other is inevitable.
Their close encounters become more frequent when Jules gets a temporary job at the non-profit where Josh also volunteers.
It was only a matter of time before the tension from their bickering imploded. And boy, did it.
I love these two so much. While everyone -- except maybe Alex -- are appalled at the mean things they say to each other, we come to find out that it is really their love language. It is how Josh talks to Ava (though he does with less meanness because Big Bro is really a softie when it comes to his younger sister) and to Alex. Jules is the blunt friend who speaks her mind. Both of them are fiercely protective of the people they care about, and the words they use to put someone in their place can cut like a serrated blade.
Ana Huang does a fabulous job in inserting small details as they try to rip each other apart that leave us less convinced that they are mortal enemies and more invested in them individually and together. There are so many layers to Jules and Josh, and how these are slowly revealed and addressed is just so epic.
I love, love, love this series, and I cannot wait for Twisted Lies. I like the mystery that surrounds Christian, and I also wonder how Asher and Dante will play into the rest of the series.
