BOOKWORM REVIEW: Tangled Up by Tia Louise

The Bayside Heroes series has brought all of the feels and the heat, and Tangled Up, the fourth book, is no different.

Beck and Carly's story starts when the highway pile-up reunites Beck with someone who lived in his childhood hometown of Eden. When he ends up visiting the small but buzzing beach town, he does not realize that his first love is also going to be there.

Carly is being exiled by work to Eden to protect herself from a former patient who escaped police custody. Just when she thought she'd spend the time at her aunt's home brooding about being sent away for her own good, fate gives her another reason to brood: running into the one guy who once broke her heart.

The series has done an excellent job in having different takes on second chances, and this book's spin integrates a wonderful story about self-forgiveness. Beck is fantastic. Despite the demons in his past, he proves to be resilient and strong while being caring and gentle. Carly is sassy and smart. A bright ray of sunshine, she breaks through the walls of the most pessimistic. (I am looking at you, Aunt Viv.) 

The supporting characters in this book may take a back seat to our main characters, but they are loud and adorable even from that row. I adore that while Carly's brother Henry fiercely loves her, he respects her boundaries as an adult woman.

There is an element of suspense in this story, which brings a wonderful injection of action at its climax, so be prepared to be taken to the edge of your seat. On the flip side, the spicy scenes are hot and dirty, balancing out the action and drama.

The book by itself is incredible. There is an awkward integration to the series because this one is set away from Bayside. We see very rare glimpses of characters from the previous books, and I wished there was a better tie-in to the series.

Other than that, if you're looking for a wonderful and spicy love story about second chances, Tangled Up is a great read.
