What a clever (and HOT) retelling of Cinderella!

Similar to the original, Cinderella is an orphan left to the whims of her stepmother, who has her working as a servant in her own childhood home.  To pay some bills, the stepmother sells her to the palace, where she is to serve as Prince Henri's concubine.

Prince Charming is trying to evade the second half of his name as much as possible. He cycles through concubines with as little discretion as possible, and he is fighting so hard against his father's wishes to get married.

Cinderella fights off the Prince's advances so he proposes a bet.  If the Prince can get Cinderella to fall in love with him within a month, Cinderella has to stay with him until he lets her go.  If she remains unaffected by him, he will grant her freedom.

This novella was well done; it is a refreshing take on the fairy tale. While I was skeptical about the concubine spin at first, Lorelei Johnson did a remarkable job in building this amazing connection between Cinderella and Henri.  The slow burn culminates into a super hot HEA.
