Here we go! Laura Pavlov serves us another wonderful kick-off to a promising series, and I am here for it.
Hugh Reynolds has always been protective of Lila James. She is after all his best friend's little sister. But when she comes home from college and starts working with him, Hugh starts to feel feelings less of the sibling variety and more of the romantic variety. When she asks him to help her cash in her V-card, Hugh hesitates for barely a minute. After all, she is only in Cottonwood Cove for the summer, and what better to purge his fantasies about her once and for all?
What a fun first book! I love the dynamic between Hugh and Lila. Pavlov does a great job of quickly but meaningfully establishing a deep history between the two and taking us on a journey as it transitions from friends to lovers. Even though there is the claiming of the V-card, this was also one of her less spicy books, BUT the romance and chemistry are so well done that I did not miss the spice.
As the first read, this does introduce us to the cast for the rest of the series. I cannot wait to learn more about them.
