How can someone recover from a world of hurt, especially when the person you love the most in the universe is the one who cashed their and your tickets into that emotional pain?

Levi and Sophie Truin made me a believer in second chances, even when the situation they needed another shot from seemed irredeemable.

The divorced couple has learned to co-exist and co-parent in the last seven years. The only problem is that they've also suppressed the feelings they have for each other as penance for their respective roles in their separation seven years ago.

Now rockstar Levi wants to take their daughter on tour with him. To alleviate model and nonprofit director Sophie's fears, he also invites her to come along. 

A tour bus full of unresolved tension? Yes. Please.

I was ready for Carrie Aarons to bring on the angst, and brought it she did. The angst, the feels, the tension -- they weighed heavily as I read through Levi and Sophie's second chance journey. They definitely made the story even richer. I love that we get to see the payout of their growth as they navigate this chapter with the maturity and grace they very much needed seven years ago.

I also adore the supporting cast. Sophie's mom Gloria and Levi's friend and mentor Judd were fantastic as the couple's conscience and the book's comedic relief. Their daughter Hart -- certainly an old soul -- was just plain adorable.

This standalone read is going to be a slow burn so buckle yourselves in for an angsty ride, but the wait is definitely worth it.
