Is it possible to fall in love with two fictional people so quickly?
Did I mention that I am sucker for a great friends-to-lovers? We get a fantastic story with Jasper and Sloane, two friends who have been denying their attraction for a long time.
Sloane is a few days from walking down the aisle, and hockey player Jasper does not like it one bit. But when Sloane gets the worst news on her wedding day, he was the one to take her away from the mess and whisk her away to the one place they last found peace: Chestnut Springs.
Sloane is not the only one who has demons in their past to deal with. Jasper has his own share, and it keeps him from diving into his feelings for Sloane.
Now they are stuck together on a road trip. Can they exorcise their past to get to their happily ever after?
This book is absolute perfection. If you love friends-to-lovers, road trips, one beds, you get that and more with this read. The chemistry between Jasper and Sloane is sizzling hot. Even when they are arguing, it carries a delicious undertone of tension. That said, my favorite part about them is that they make each other better. They call each other out on their missteps and build each other up.
My other favorite part of this book is that we get to see our favorite characters from the previous Chestnut Springs books AND Gold Rush Ranch series. Yes, this book can be read as a standalone, but it was so much fun to see all of those charismatic character banter with each other in a way that only Elsie Silver can deliver.
I love the ensemble cast so much that I don't know whose story I would want to read next. I just know that I cannot wait for the next installment.
