While I adored the first three books in this series, I feel like they were stepping stones that led to the ultimate story of Scott and Gemma.
These two have a lot of history. After a confession made four years earlier, Scott disappeared from the ranch and her life.
Now he is back.
Not only is he her brother's best friend, but he also happens to be the federal marshal assigned to protect her as she comes out of witness protection to testify and put some horrible, horrible people behind bars for good. Stuck on a cross-country road trip with the man who used to own her heart, can Gemma keep it safe from Scott while he protects them from the world?
Angst, spice, plot twists, suspense, spice, mystery, romance..did I mention spice? You get all of that and more with this much-anticipated read. There is nothing that gets me going more than a close-proximity road trip. I love that Scott and Gemma get to face their relationship and individual demons during their travels, and that arc is so well-developed.
Can I go back to talking about spice? Because whew, I know Lena Hendrix can write dirty like the best of them, but she brings it in this read. An alpha man who gives up control? Yes. Please.
This book can be read as a standalone. It is the fourth installment of a brilliant series. If you are new to this universe, you will see some of the characters from previous books. I highly recommend going back and reading from the beginning to get the full Redemption Ranch experience.
