This time, we get her spin on The Little Mermaid. Despite losing her mother to the surface and humans, Naia has always been intrigued by the world her mother loved. When she goes against her father's orders and explores the surface, she came upon Prince Eric and his ship, who meet the brutal end of a storm.
Against her better judgment, she rescues Eric and immediately falls in love. But how can she be with the one she loves with the entire ocean in between them?
If adults needed a bedtime story, this series would be it.
Lorelei Johnson's Tantalising Tales Collection always has fun reads, but it takes our beloved fairy tales and ramped up the spice. I loved Naia's independence and resilience. She is stubborn to a fault, but she puts the people she loves first. Lorelei Johnson gives this classic just enough spin and spice to make it hers, but I also appreciate that it was not completely deconstructed to take away from a favorite classic.
