BOOKWORM REVIEW: Hades by Carly Spade

RATING: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
STEAM: πŸ”₯πŸ”₯.5

I am always in for a Hades/Persephone retelling, so this was an immediate add to my TBR.

Stephanie Costas is taking a much-needed vacation to Greece. What she did not expect is to run into actual Gods during her trip. When she catches the attention of a certain Underworld God -- who is mourning being left by Persephone -- she also finds herself intrigued by Hades.

This was definitely a fun read. Carly Spade did a great job of making the Gods more relatable. The idea of broody Hades being sent on vacation by his own brother to shake off his break-up was entertaining. There were a couple of awkward moments, but Spade made up for it with an action-packed climax.

This is a sloooow burn. While I felt like it was necessary, I wished there were more moments from them to really drive home their connection.

Overall, I enjoyed the book and look forward to the stories about the other Gods.

ABOUT THE BOOK

Stephanie Costas has always had a passion for humanity. As a digital forensics examiner, she fights bad guys from the technical front. When a closed cold case is dug up, she finds herself becoming consumed to set things right. No amount of eighties music or repeated viewings of her favorite movie Dirty Dancing were enough to distract her. She needed a vacation in the worst of ways.

When she set foot in the gorgeous tropical resort in Greece, she had no idea she'd meet a man claiming to be Hades, god of the Underworld. And she certainly had no idea that he was telling the truth. Her Greek vacation was about to become very...interactive.

A Hades/Persephone re-imagining.
