Wow. Just wow.

I was not ready for this book. I don't think I would ever be even if I knew what was coming.

Gabriel Hill has been planning all of his life to avenge his parents against the Consortium, and Elise Bettencourt is his way in. Elise knows this and should avoid him at all costs, but her interest in him cannot seem to make her run -- even walk -- away.

Elise also has secrets of her own. That's why she has been keeping her family at arm's length. But when Gabriel makes a deal with her that she could not resist, she gets back into the Consortium's fold. Will she regret this move, or is this going to be the key to Gabriel's cold heart?

This is definitely an Amelia Wilde read. It has angst, suspense, and mystery. Nothing gets me going than angry spice, and this read has it in spades filled with great tension in between.

Gabriel is the quintessential alpha-hole; he is cold, cunning, overprotective, and angry. Elise seems to keep him in balance, letting her kindness and smarts match him well.

This is the first of the series, so it does end in a wonderful cliffhanger that will have you pulling your hair out and hitting one-click for the next book at the same time. The series can be a standalone even though characters from Wilde's Wealth series make an appearance throughout the book.
