Finally! The much-anticipated spice between Perry and Charlotte has arrived.
They are finally wed, and even though the marriage is arranged, they have started to warm up to the idea of being together forever. When they are sent on a honeymoon to get even closer together, things from their past start to come back..to haunt them and threaten their growing bond.
Oh, Perry Constantine. We start to get to the root of his hot-and-cold routine, and we find out how much of that is driven by family dynamics. The smirky, devil-may-care façade apparently has a more caring and overprotective side underneath, and it starts to emerge when Charlotte's ex Seamus McTiernan enters the picture.
But there is more to Charlotte and Seamus' past than just an unsuccessful relationship, and those layers start to unravel in this read.
The romance, the suspense, the growing tension among the Constantines, Morellis, and now McTiernans. Monica Murphy's superb world-building really comes to play in Book 2 of this series. Every detail has its purpose, and even how she creates Seamus makes you want to detest him to your core.
This is part of a connected three-book series, so if you have not read The Reluctant Bride, it is best to do so before jumping into this book. It also ends in another cliffhanger, and while those can be super-frustrating, this one leaves you with more anticipation and excitement for the last installment in this series.
