Our minds sometimes lag behind our hearts. A second, a month, a few years - it could take its time to catch up to our one true love.

This theme is at the heart of Natasha Madison's kick-off novel of her Southern Wedding series. Travis and Harlow were very much in love until they weren't. After being apart for four years, Harlow receives an invitation to Travis' wedding. Having promised to be there for the best day of his life, she couldn't turn down the invite and decided to attend.

Travis and his wedding planner sisters have their hands full. One accident after another keeps happening leading up to the wedding, and when Travis' fiancé breaks it off and dormant feelings that he has suppressed over the years come flooding in after seeing Harlow, will their minds finally catch up with what their hearts have known all along?

I am a sucker for second chance romance, especially when both were clearly in love with each other, and miscommunication and immaturity just tore them apart. I love it because we get to see a wonderful character arc as they mature and reconcile the misunderstanding. Natasha Madison brings a fantastic twist to that with Travis and Harlow.

I was a little wary about the book's timeline, but intricate details woven into the fast-paced first half made the two main characters and the dilemma they faced so relatable. Each chapter provided new insights to their emotions and thoughts. It leaves us wondering how a couple of days felt like eternity -- in a good way -- as we bear witness to Travis and Harlow reconnecting.

The supporting cast gave the right amount of comedic relief. We get to meet Travis' sisters whose love stories will come with the subsequent books in the series. This series does have a prequel novella which gives you better insights into the main character's first chance at romance, but this book does a great job of giving enough context to be a standalone.

I am definitely looking forward to the rest of the series. The countdown begins for July.
