BOOKWORM REVIEW: Lust by Eva Charles

RATING: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
STEAM: πŸ”₯πŸ”₯πŸ”₯

The second book in the Sinful Empire Trilogy continues from the first. Daniela has a secret to disclose to the anti-hero Antonio, and it is a whopper indeed. The two are figuring out the best way to protect their respective families' legacies from greedy and evil hands. That goal may be more challenging than they thought. And to add to it -- try as they may -- their attempts to keep this arrangement as emotionally distant as possible seem to unravel.

Antonio -- and everyone else around him -- fancies himself an anti-hero, and that changes little. He is still cold, calculating, and dark, but there is a bit of humanity in him that Daniela seems to inspire. It seems the ice around his heart is cracking for the formidable Daniela. She is every bit his equal, and this book highlights that. She is the queen that Antonio needs, that Antonio did not know he wanted. And just like she inspires some goodness in him, he inspires strength in her. A woman in a male-controlled woman, she stands on her own two feet with his encouragement. Their connection creates more passion and chemistry than they have anticipated, and it seems that in this case, two is very much better than one.

This trilogy is a tangled web that draws readers in and attaches its literary claws not just around our brains but also our hearts. Antonio and Daniela should not be compatible, but yet they are and we are left cheering for them wholeheartedly.

The book does contain very dark themes so consider trigger warnings before diving in. It also ends in another cliffhanger -- another hit for my already frail nerves from the last one -- building more anticipation for the final book.

ABOUT THE BOOK

Our fate was sealed with a blood oath.
Daniela D'Sousa is beautiful.
Fiery.
Seductive.
And hiding deadly secrets.

Her angels play so nicely with my demons.
I crave her touch.
Her whimpers.
Her obedience.
Her light.

Do I deserve her? No.
Will that stop me from taking what's rightfully mine? Also no.

Some men never seek forgiveness, not even with their final breath.
My name is Antonio Huntsman, and I am one of one those men.

Lust is the second book in A Sinful Empire Trilogy, which begins with Greed and concludes with Envy. It should be read after reading Greed. Lust is a dark romance with dark themes.

MEET EVA CHARLES

After being a confirmed city-girl for much of her life, Eva moved to beautiful Western Massachusetts in 2014. There, she found herself living in the woods with no job, no friends (unless you count the turkey, deer, and coyote roaming the backyard), and no children underfoot, wondering what on earth she'd been thinking. But as it turned out, it was the perfect setting to take all those yarns spinning in her head and weave them into sexy stories.

When she's not writing, trying to squeeze information out of her tight-lipped sons, or playing with the two cutest dogs you've ever seen, Eva's creating chapters in her own love story.
