This book made my football-loving heart full.

Riley Novo has been living her brother's dream ever since he got into a car accident and became paralyzed from the waist down. She has poured herself into her promise to him to fill the gap he left as the high school football team's kicker and her effort has now translated into being the only girl in the North Boston University squad.

Too bad she can't seem to shake off her brother's best friend Zeke, whom she blames for her brother's paralysis, as Zeke was behind the wheel that fateful night. He also got a scholarship to play for NBU, and as luck would have it, they are now dormmates.

This read was everything I wanted it to be and more. The chemistry between Riley and Zeke -- even when Riley couldn't stand to be around him -- was just sizzling. Kandi Steiner is a genius in dropping small details that builds the story and the heat.

Riley is a warrior. Despite the many physical and mental adversities that she faces as the lone female in a male-dominated sport, she proves herself through cunning, hard work, and skills. I love seeing someone face obstacles head-on, and she eyes them down with courage and resilience.

Zeke was a tad overprotective at first, but I love that he quickly understands and respects when he could step in to help Riley and when he needs to let her stand for herself. I stan a supportive man who gets boundaries, which puts Zeke up there in my list of book boyfriends.

There was a fantastic balance between the romance and sports action in this read, which made this sports fan so happy.

If you love a fantastic, steamy read with a good helping of football action, this book is a must-read for you.
