BOOKWORM REVIEW: Small Town Big Rumors by Willow Winters

RATING: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
STEAM: πŸ”₯πŸ”₯πŸ”₯

It took twenty-four hours to change Magnolia's life, and this book takes us on an amazing journey to unpack what happened during those twenty-four hours.

Magnolia is angry. Her boyfriend just blindsided her with a break-up, and she is trying to cure her heartache with a night out in town. It leads to her meeting Brody, but after a night of passion, she gets a call and has to leave while Brody is sleeping.

Fast forward to four years later, and Magnolia is a single mom trying to raise her daughter alone and navigate around a complicated small-town life. She is finally getting some closure on the havoc her late dad left her with, and she feels like she can breathe again..until she runs into Brody.

I enjoyed the realistic take of Magnolia's angst in navigating her reunion with Brody against the current arrangements in her life. There is somewhat of a love triangle for those who are not into that trope, but it made sense for this story and did not come across as superfluous. The dilemma she faces in this book is not clearly right and wrong, and that was interesting to me. I love contemporary small-town romances because of their relatability, and this book hit the right note in exploring the grey area. Magnolia deals with real-life problems and does the best she can to tackle them, but she is also flawed and she makes mistakes.

If you love angsty small town reads, I hope you like this book as much as I did.

** I am voluntarily reviewing an advance copy of this book. Thank you to Willow Winters and Candi Kane PR for providing an ARC. **

ABOUT THE BOOK

He tasted like tequila and the fake name I gave him was Rose.

Four years ago, I decided to get over one man, by getting under another. A single night and nothing more.

I found my handsome stranger with a shot glass and charming but devilish smile at the end of the bar. The desire that hit his eyes the second they landed on me ignited a spark inside me, instant and hot. He was perfect and everything I didn’t know I needed. That one night may have ended, but I left with much more than a memory.

Four years later, and with a three-year-old in tow, the man I still dream about is staring at me from across the street in the town I grew up in. I don’t miss the flash of recognition, or the heat in his gaze.

The chemistry is still there, even after all these years.

I just hope the secrets and regrets don’t destroy our second chance before it’s even begun.

Willow Winters is so happy to be a USA Today, Wall Street Journal and #1 Contemporary Best Selling Author!

Willow started writing after having her little girl, Evie, December 2015. All during her pregnancy with Evie she continued to read and she only wanted to read romance. She was reading a book a day — sometimes two.

In January 2016 Willow was staying up late with Evie and just thinking of all these stories. They came to her constantly so she finally sat down and just started writing. She always wanted to do it so she figured, why not? Today Willow cannot be happier for making that decision!
