Davis and Juliet are bananas.
But they and their silly little quirks are so adorable. Player Hater kicks off Sara Ney's Accidentally in Love series with Juliet and Davis' story. Juliet's best friend Mia is trying to convince Juliet that her boyfriend Thad is not as bad as Juliet suspects he is. Sure, he is a good-looking and successful football player, but Mia insists that there is more to him than meets the eye.
Thad decides to kick off a "Like Me" campaign by inviting Juliet to a three-day vacation with him and Mia. Unfortunately, wires got crossed: Juliet expected a beach vacation and got camping in the middle of nowhere instead. To make matters even worse, she has to share a camper with Thad's best buddy Davis while the love birds are canoodling in their fancy love tent.
This was a great feel-good rom-com read. Davis and Juliet are not really your typical sports romance couple, and I am here for it. And their adventures in the outdoors...let's just say they would have been better off if Davis brought his old football helmet with him.
I love going on this journey with them as they learn more about each other, slowly breaking their emotional walls and respective hesitation about supporting their friends' relationship. Sara Ney did a fantastic job in exploring the bittersweet feeling of losing a close friend to love; you want to be so happy for them but cannot help feeling lonely.
If you need a fun pick-me-up read, this book is what you're looking for.
