BOOKWORM REVIEW: Washed Up by Kandi Steiner

I loved this book so much that I don't even know how to write an opening to this review.

As someone who is happily married, I really shouldn't be able to relate to Amanda, but Kandi Steiner does a freaking amazing job at making a reverse age gap connection between a 47-year-old divorcee and a 34-year-old workaholic anesthesiologist work so well. And I loved every moment of it.

Amanda is trying to finalize her divorce from her alcoholic and abusive husband. Unfortunately, she gets into a major pile-up during a foggy day and has to be brought to the local emergency room for serious injuries. Thankfully, she is in good hands with Dr. Greg Weston, one of Bayside Hospital's anesthesiologist. He also happens to be her son's high school best friend and 13 years her junior.

That does not stop the attraction they tried to quell 16 years ago from simmering up to the surface.

I giggled, people! I am in my 40s, and I giggled..a lot. At the way they say the right things at the right time.  At how incredibly sweet and mature Greg is (but still make alpha-possessive pretty hot). At how goofy and sassy Amanda can be despite being so vulnerable and resilient. 

I would normally give the number of spicy scenes in a book like this a three, but the build-up in the tension (I am giggling just thinking about it) is so hot that I had to add that fourth one. 

Washed Up kicks off a four-book series from four different authors. It does start to introduce the characters in those books, but it does so without taking away from the storyline. It has fantastic cute moments and tugs at your heartstrings, and if you're like me, leaves you in a serious book slump because it is that good.
