What a fun, unique take on Beauty and The Beast! What I love about Lorelei Johnson's retellings of old fairy tale classics are the refreshing spins she creates but leaving the integrity of the beloved story intact.
Alaric has been cursed to be a monster alone forever in his castle with an impossible remedy to his magical prison. One day a drunk trespasses and overstays his welcome. To save himself, he barters his daughter Belle in exchange for his life.
From there, Lorelei's magic takes over, adding plenty of spice that makes readers fan themselves for relief. I have read a couple of books in the Tantalizing Tales collection, and I love that their female main characters have grit and courage in face of adversity. This book is no different.
Though it is somewhat insta-love -- it is a short read after all -- there is plenty of combustible but natural connection built between Alaric and Belle.
If you are looking for a short, fun retelling of your favorite fairy tale, I would definitely recommend picking up this collection. Beauty and The Beast holds a special place in my heart, so this book especially has become an instant favorite.
