Oh Gus. Or is it GuSexGod? 😂

I am not going to lie. I was concerned about how Gus' story was going to turn out because he was such a mess in the previous books. But I think his and Susannah's tale has somehow snatched the spot for my favorite in the G.D. Taylor Series.

Susannah is a widow who have recently moved into one of the apartments in Gus' building -- where he lives and which he and his brothers own. She is fiercely protective of her five-year-old munchkin Olive and of her heart and lives vicariously through the heroines in the romance novels she writes (which I thought was fantastic).

Gus comes over to their place after finding out Susannah hired some hack jobs to install her bookshelves. Insulted that someone else would dare install fixtures into apartments that he and his brothers built and angered that someone would scam the mom and daughter, he offers to fix them and finish them himself.

If you are looking for a read that guarantees a good laugh, I recommend this book 100%. I have laughed so hard at Gus' antics and naivete, and it turns out that the hot mess brother is also the most romantic and wholesome one. His instant connection with Olive -- despite his aversion to the fruit -- is so "make my ovaries explode" adorable. Apparently when Gus loves, he does so completely and it is so amazing to read about.

Susannah is such an amazing and relatable character. She is resilient and feisty. I love that she is fiercely independent but surrounds herself with loving and supportive family and friends. I am so grateful that this book highlights the struggles of parenting akin to fixing a plane while flying it. It is hard to address your emotions and grief when you have to raise a child who is looking closely at you for her own emotional cues, and that was captured and addressed to perfection in this book.

One of the biggest reasons I adore this series are its side characters. Of course, the Taylor Brothers and their respective ladies bring on the humor. Susannah's side of the family does not shy away from the spotlight, either. Her family and friend Charlie are so cute with their banter, not just with Susannah, but also with Gus and Little Olive. And Olive. I would be remiss to not mention her. She is perfection wrapped up in a five-year-old, and her interactions with Gus especially are gold.

If you want a feel-good, laugh-out-loud romance, this is definitely a must-read.
