BOOKWORM REVIEW: Say Yes to the Boss by Olivia Hayle

Victor needed a wife to secure his inheritance from his grandfather: the house he grew up in after his parents died.
Cecilia needed an out: she vowed to herself that she would prove Victor wrong by lasting a year (and not a day more) as his assistant. She was looking for another job so she could eventually own her own virtual assistant business.
When Victor proposes to Cecilia that she should marry him to keep his inheritance in exchange for a lot of money to help with her business plan and to bring publicity to her best friend's art exhibits, she reluctantly but eventually agree.
Will these two remain as aloof about their fake marriage as they had planned to?
I really enjoyed this book, because it was just great storytelling. It delivered a unique take on the fake-marriage-to-your-boss trope, and the pace of the story kept me engaged from beginning to end.
The grumpy/sunshine dynamic between Victor and Cecilia is established quickly early on, and I enjoyed the subtle and well-timed transition from their relationship being adversarial to being complementary. Even as office "enemies," the sexual tension between these two is so consuming, and it fuels the spiciness of their eventual intimate moments. There are definitely moments I found myself giggling at their banter, Victor's possessiveness, and Cecilia's seduction attempts.
I was pleasantly surprised at the depth that this book takes when dealing with Victor and Cecelia's pasts. It seamlessly explained why they are the way they are without taking us away from the story.
I think this book is a fantastic read, and if you like enemies-to-lovers, office romances, or marriage of convenience, I highly recommend picking this up.
